Combining party help??

Ihave a child turning 1 and a 14 year old who graduated from middle school. We are going to our home state on vacation and thought it would be nice to have a party. We agreed to the 1st birthday party for sure but unsure how to handle a graduation party as well. We are only there one weekend and the same people would be invited to both. Would it be wrong or tacky to combine the two parties? I was going to simply send announcements for the 14 year old so maybe people would get a clue and congrat him at the 1 year olds party and maybe even bring a gift of somekind but I honestly don't think people would put the two together. We are having the party outside at a forest preserve. Any ideas help???

Combining party help??
sure, why not.. the 1 yr old wont care and the 14 yr old - I am sure would like to celebrate their graduation.

Just send the invites and state such... Tell them you wanted to celebrate both events but did not want to take their valuable time for 2 separate events - this way the people attending think you are being thoughtful as well.

Nothing extravagant, just simple invites. the main point here is the getting together of family and friends to celebrate events.

Have 2 smaller cakes - one for the B-day the other for the Grad.

keep it simple - have fun
Reply:yea just combine them. i just graduated from middle school too and its a lot easier for you and the PARTIERS! me and my cousins are like a couple yrs. apart and thats what we are doing!!
Reply:I would just do a combo party and let people know that you will be celebrating both occasions. Just put a note in the birthday party invite that you would like people to congradulate the 14 year old on his graduation from Middle School at the same time. Have two 1/2 sheet cakes celebrating both occasions, and people that want to provide an additional gift for the older one can.
Reply:On the invitations, say it is a celebration for 1st birthday party and for the graduation. It's fine to have a duel celebration, particularly under the circumstances. But I would put them on the same invitation so they will know it's for both.
Reply:Combining parties is my middle name. I recently had to have a birthday party for my sons age 1 and 4. They have the same birthday. Spider man theme birthday invitations for both went well now I have to have a birthday party/ father's day celebration. I think I'm going to BBQ for both of them celebrate my daughter's birthday during the day and celebrate Father's Day later on with some of my b/f's friends. Whatever you decide to do make sure that everyone will have a good time. Seems like you know what you're doing. Pinatas, games for the one year old and something like a nature hike or something for the 14 year old. Just be creative. Good luck.
