The two party system?

I listen to talk radio and a lot of people are fed up with both parties and they would rather vote third party. Then the host will say that a third party vote is really a vote for the opposite party. I would love to see the American voter pick a third party, Independent, Libertarian, Constitution Party and put that party in the White House. I do not understand why so many think that the current two party system is so great? I think it sucks! What will it take for the American people to embrace and elect a third party candiate?

The two party system?
What will it take for us to "embrace" a third party candidate? Probably an economic depression, revolution or some such national catastrophe because the two-headed monster we now are subjected to is so entrenched in the national psyche that it has become unthinkable to vote otherwise. I, too would love for the public CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES, without a middleman,i.e, the electoral college or the supreme court, to decide for us who we need to govern us, alas, I do not believe that we can get over the obsession of american idol, the survivor series or sunday football long enough to think about what it might mean to decide for ourselves. Haven't the last 20,30 years been enough evidence that we just don't care? Sorry to be so pessimistic but reality bites back.
Reply:Alot of dienfranchised main party voters are third party voters who won't standup for there beliefs
Reply:Ok. Find me a viable alternate candidate with adequate funding and a decent staff.

It's not great. Government is a necesary evil, and the ability to actually vote without being scared of being killed while voting IS a good thing.
