United States third party presidential candidates?

Why do we only hear about the Democratic Party and the Republican Party and not abot the other people running like Constitution Party, Green Party, Libertarian Party, Prohibition Party, Socialist Party USA, Socialist Workers Party,Unity08 Party, and the Independents. why dont we hear about those candidates.

United States third party presidential candidates?
Because most third parties have a limited platform. They usually of only one issue to campaign on. As voters have more than one concern, they tune out third parties.
Reply:They are too fragmented. We heard of Perot when he ran, and if Ron Paul runs independent, you will hear of him, but people are hypnotized into the self defeating prophecy that only a candidate anointed by the Democratic or Republican party can win.

I don't know why, though. There used to be a party called the Whigs, and you don't hear much about them any more. Maybe it is time to move on.....
Reply:You do not hear about other candidates because US History shows that an independent or 3rd party candidate has NEVER even come close to winning a presidential election.
Reply:They have no real political power and rate no coverage.
Reply:Because they haven't been bought and paid for by corporate PACs. Actually, only the Green Party and Libertarian Party are well enough organized to be recognized by the Federal Election Commission.

They both have very extensive platforms and are NOT just about one issue. Theodore Roosevelt was elected President as candidate of the Bull Moose Party, so third parties can win if people are allowed the chance to vote for them and if the media simply did its job instead of only reporting on the campaigns of candidates who buy tons of advertising. The media reports all sorts of trivia all the time. A third party candidate is more newsworthy than what Britney Spears had for breakfast, but what gets reported???????
