Need party ideas!!!! Please read before responding because I am looking for a certain type of party?

I want to have a theme party for my friends but I am fresh out of ideas. We have already done 80's, pirate, 20's, hawaiian, toga,fiesta,hollywood,and some others. I posted this question before and the only thing people said was why not have a toga party or an early halloween party, but that is not what I am looking for...keep reading....





I wanted to have a party that would really be enjoyed by all my friends who are all huge fantasy film buffs and all things mythical and old. They love Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Serenity, Underworld, most comic books and movies, and basically most others things geeky!





Everyone also loves Monty Python, dragons, swords, and anything at all related to medieval times. We reenact the medieval times so since we do that so often I don't want that to be the theme for the party, but I would like for some of these ideas to be incorporated in one unique party.


Any ideas for food, decor, invites, prizes, and overall theme would be awesome

you could have something like a royalty. if you have the money, you could get royalty chairs and that would be at the table where you would eat the food. unless you aren't going to eat at a table. then you could have a scavenger hunt, if you want that. even though you are grown-ups. i'm not sure about that. wait, IDEA! you could have a drawing. a drawing for who to be a king and queen. if you wanted to, you could make little coins, or just use something like gelt. people would put their 'money' in, and then at the end of the party, you would draw the king and queen. and again, if you have the money, you could get spotlights in your backyard and they could have the first dance. you would send out invitations or phone calls or emails: something like this -





You are cordially invited to attend (your name here)'s Secret Royalty Party on (date of party) at (time of party) at (location)


Please come dressed as your favorite character [ex. characters from movies, Monty Python, etc.]


I hope you can come.





Just an idea. people would win prizes-fake jewels, bracelets, necklaces for the ladies. the men could win really cool crowns. everyone would get a crown (maybe paper, if you have the time) when they arrived. the food would be like royalty. you could somehow make a tape or dvd of something (maybe a mixture of the visitors with weird things on, (maybe on photoshop or something) or videos of everyone's favorite movie clips put together.





you could have stars hung up around the house. if you want, even though you did this already, could have oldish hollywood stars taped onto the floor. you could have their names and the first people to arrive could be paparazzi. then you could have costumes for paparazzi. the men could be news people or security guards. then you'd dress up as a black and white guy, go back to the old time theme.


something about a comic book would be nice. maybe archie, betty and veronica? betty boop? tinkerbell? something disney?





the couch could be decorated in different colors. could have glasses. if you have something 3-D, get 3d glasses and everyone would watch a 3d movie.


just an idea.





movie seats? popcorn? swords could be incorporated with the kings and queens. but back to glasses, if they really like harry potter, glasses are great. if you can, speak in an english accent or get someone who has one or something like that.

Reply:Do a dream date auction! Have people dress up as their favorite hero/fantasy character/ movie character... then put them on the block "who would like to spend a night with harry potter?" so forth.


Have people come up with interesting dates. - lets say you are going as Harry Potter" - your date could include what ever you think harry would want to do on a date... The dates don't even have to be real, you don't even have to bid real money, you could bid, gambling chips, or barter with personal items. (Han solos light saber for those harry potter jelly beans... or a shot of jager - what ever you prefer).


This gets people into it, and ready to party.


For the invite you could make a copy of the old "mystery date" game...

well, your theme could be greek/roman mythology. there's lots of symbolism where the gods/goddesses and so on are concerned, which would make for good costumes.





ambrosia and grapes are about all i know about what the gods ate, but you certainly could serve greek food (yum...olives...feta...etc.)
