I have a birthday coming up , and all my friends are encourging me to have a party. except that the last time i had a party my "bestfriend" overtook it as her own. also my parties never seem to come out how i want them , either the things we do at them or the people that i invite are all wrong. i was thinking about "Possibly" having a party again. anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome my party faliure streak with either a good way to make a good guest list or activities to do? all inputs are helpfull. thanks :-)
Party Faliure?
I know how you feel. I have had many failed parties. For many years, no matter what I did something would go wrong and ruin it. The first "no fight" party I had was a simple party. I just invited two friends that are both really good natured and I didn't overplan. Now, I'm not saying make no plans and only invite two people. I'm just saying to invite people you know won't cause problems and keep the party laid back.
If this peson is really your best friend, I understand that you probably will invite them. Just talk with them before hand to let them know how you feel. They probably don't even realize they were taking over.
Oh and fun activites are truth or dare, prank calls, dance dance or karaoke revolution (if you have them), make a dessert, taking stupid pictures, watching movies, going to the mall (if you're inviting a small number of people), ect.

14th Birthday Party...?
Next weekend, I'm having my 14th birthday party. I'm having pretty much all of my friends from my school over (so around 40 people, guys and girls) and we're just gonna party at my house.
I have a home theater where a movie will be playing, I'll have one of my friends bring 2 extra Wii remotes for people to play, we have a pool table, darts, Ms. Pacman, and a lot more...
Last year, I had a party just like this and I had competitions near the end where we had to see who could shove the most grapes in their mouth, put 3 marshmallows in their mouths and sing a song and the first to guess the song won... stuff like that.
Well I want another party like last year because it was the "best party of the year" according to my friends, but I don't want to have the same competitions!
Do you have any ideas for fun competitions?
No kissing games though because my parents will be here...
And everyone that will be here will be from 12 - 14 years old so yeah...
The party is 3 hours long!

19TH b-day college THEME party!?
ok so Im turning 19 this summer, and before everyone heads home for break I wanna throw a huge birthday party at me and my brothers house right near campus! All of our friends usually throw awesome theme parties...including: stereotype party, twin party, 50s party, classy dress up style, etc, etc.
I really want to throw a killer good theme party and I have some ideas but I want something thats really gonna make the night. I was thinking like a mandatory color wearing one, like a black and white party and have really cool decorations...or a "neon nineteenth" where everyone wears neon colors and again Ide have some insane decorations..and I already have an outfit planned hahaha. Im just not sure what theme party I should have. Im not really into the usual "mardi gras" or "ceo and hoes" themes cause I find them pretty corny and boring. Oh and this is going to be a dance party....can anyone help?!

Reply:Hollywood or red carpet is always an amazing theme. Cute little cocktail dresses, stilettos, great jewelry, fashionable sunglasses. It gives people a chance to dress like ballers when they usually wouldn't.
Also, depending on what kind of dancing you like, a Cuban or Mohito party would be amazing. Great theme for food and mohitos for drinks. You could use an assortment of Afro-Cuban music. Basically, think Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, etc. Check out the soundtrack to Dirty Dancing Havanah Nights. People could dress in 1950s Cuban inspired clothing. Sort of celebrating Cuba when it was a really happening place. I've been to a party like this before and it was a huge hit. Good Luck!

Everyone dresses in drag, guys in dresses, women in suits! its hilarious! yeah, you may have to toss the drag queens some hundreds, but, you ll have a blast!! Have some extra wigs and thngs lying about for your guests who are too chicken, when they see everyone else doing it, they will too.

Party and Money issues!?
I'm a 16 year old male hosting a party for an average group of 35 friends. I am having my band play, and two other bands play. I want to buy Pizza, Soda, and Chips. I only have 50 dollars! The guests are already invited and I am not going to cancel this party. The party begins on August 30th, at 4:30 PM, Eastern Time! Are there any quick ways to make money? I am unemployed at the moment. And I need to know what I can do! Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Also...any good ideas for a party of 14-16 year olds. Also...how much money do you think I will need, and how many party size pizzas, and 2-liter sodas!?

People usually throw parties like this to RAISE money, now you are in a situation to have to RAISE money for a party. Think that makes little sense. You have a few choices. You should tell those invited to bring something. (soda, chips, eats) which could save your butt. You can offer to mow lawns or something, but that is not guaranteed income. Nah scratch that, just go with the, tell your guest to bring something to get in deal. Use the 50 bucks to buy something, like sodas, and chips and maybe dominions will have that up to 5 pizzas for 5 bucks each deal. But you will be cutting it close. If you had a friend that works in one of those pizza joints I would call in a favor. Good luck and plan better next time LOL...

You will need 10 large pizzas and some potato chips you will also need 8 2-litter sodas.

Depending on your friends and their families (they have to provide the food and cook it too), this could be a really be a good party with everybody chipping in or a really bad disappointment if they expect a catered event…
$50 dollars only covers the cake and maybe a few plastic knifes and spoons… Something to think about.

well my friend and i are sharing Party together and we dont know which party we should do: a pool party or a dance party. at the pool party we would have a dunk tank, an invlatable water slide, a hot tub, a swimming pool, and a slide and possibly a slushie machine. there would be about 40 people. at the dance party it woud be at my grandparents aprtment party room. it would be hollywood theme with possibly a red carpet, and a dj, colorful lights, food, games, and a fog machine. there would also be 40 people. what should be do? this is a middle school party.

Reply:Without sounding like a Grandpa, consider the safety implications of a pool party. If anything goes wrong (admittedly it's highly unlikely) then it'll be tough to live with yourself.
But if you have a dance party, while you still have your grandparents apartment to look after, the chances of someone drowning are technically less.

so... i'm going to have a party, and it is going to have AWSOME local bands, and LOTS of people.
it may be out doors, and in a large area.
but i don't know whether to do it for my birthday (which is over spring break and i'm turning 14) or just to have a smaller birthday party, and do it for an end of the year party, since i'm going to high school next year, and i won't see alot of my friends from middle school again.
when should i do it, and if i do it for an end of the year party, what should i do for my birthday?
p.s. i would have to charge entry to the party, because the bands charge 100-200 a piece, and the place, and food, and... yah.

I think it would probably be better for you to have a large party for the end of the year, that way, you can have more freedom, as regards to making the party later, and having barebeques, pool parties, etc. It would be alot of fun for you and your friends to kick off summer, with a huge blowout. As for your birthday, do what I do, take any birthday cash that you may have gotten, and spend the day shopping, with some friends. This way, you can have the more extravagant party the day after graduation, or something.

I would also want it to be a pool party (if you can get a pool) I would also play water-games and have them come in bathing suits. If you want to have competitions to win prizes in the water, get some nice jewerly from Claire's. As for the date, depends what month your off. Do it on a Saturday in the afternoon because it will be hot. Have your guests come at 12:30-1:00 p.m. It could be big or small.

I think it would probably be better for you to have a large party for the end of the year, that way, you can have more freedom, as regards to making the party later, and having barebeques, pool parties, etc. It would be alot of fun for you and your friends to kick off summer, with a huge blowout. As for your birthday, do what I do, take any birthday cash that you may have gotten, and spend the day shopping, with some friends. This way, you can have the more extravagant party the day after graduation, or something.

Baptism & B- day party in advance ......?
I have a problem deciding on my baby's Baptism %26amp; his b-day ,my baby's 2nd year will be in Decenber 4th, %26amp; we have the date allready for his B-day Party %26amp; the Place %26amp; his baptism set up for July.
The thing is that my step-son always spend time with us one month on summer %26amp; either christamas or new year's (he lives 16 hrs away)any ways..%26amp; we had planned my baby's party by the days that days that he is going 2 be here, but know his mom said that he is not coming in december that he will be spendig w/ us ALL summer but he wanted 2 come 2 his brother's party, last year the same thing happend %26amp; because of his mom he came one week after his brother's 1st b-day party.
So, now my hubby %26amp; I are thinking on do the baptism in July like is planned %26amp; in advance his B-Day party too (it will be almost half a year in advandce), %26amp; use the place we have rented for my daughter's party she is from Decenber too, so is it okay to do this or it will be werid to have hid B-day party in advance??

The CD is a mix from itunes, If u dont want to buy music there, use the itunes software to take songs from the cd collection U all ready own and use them to crate the playlist. Then my guest can listen to the CD see the feeling of my party.
At my house
we will have a candy bar and have non acolich drinks like i menstioned later in the artile. Then after every one arives we will get our nails done then go 2 the mealting pot the latest foundue restarant everyone loves. When we get back to my house we will watch movies, talk %26amp; drink virgin red bull martinis to stay up (its a sleep over)
In the morning
we will have a pancake cake witch is with a tall stack of hotcakes drizzled with maple syrup, chocolate sauce, fruit, or whipped cream (with candels of course)
For Favors
i usally get a cute tote bag (not gross L.L. bean ones like ones with a desgin) and put together a gift basket with cute notebooks, cheap jewlerly, cell phone charms in the dollar section at target or a dollar store (it sounds cheap but sometimes u get lucky there.)
Another idea is get 2 colors of M%26amp;Ms you like and put them in cute box like chineze take out boxes in cute patterns (@ AC more)

Cut also govt spending on educating those who don't deserve and give aid to those who put in the work to get good results, and who can hold their own in foreign universites and can win awards for their scholastic abilities and not sponsor just because of their skin colour. Those who have the financial means to stand on their own two feet should be made to - they shouldn't be receiving anymore bumi benefits cos they don't need them anymore - already too rich at the expense of the poor. Remove these archaic priveleges and look at the income generation ability of the household to give aid to regardless of race or creed. You know, and everyone knows that its no longer solely the malay race who are economically disadvantaged as they were post-colonial times. You have poverty across all races now.
Cut also govt spending on educating those who don't deserve and give aid to those who put in the work to get good results, and who can hold their own in foreign universites and can win awards for their scholastic abilities and not sponsor just because of their skin colour. Giving free education to them doesn't equate to equipping the labour force with effective workers as the track record shows.
If cannot cut, make them accountable for results! No free rides on this earth man!

Kids Party Reception question(s)?
We're holding a KIDS PARTY (Babysitting Reception for kids) during our adult-only reception. The party is basically babysitting for children of the bridal party and our immediate family. We're serving pizza, juice and soda, showing movies, giving favor bags, setting up a few playstation age-appropriate games, and setting up a movie or two to play on another TV.
I have two questions related to this party:
1) Do you have any other ideas on some fun and safe things for kids to do for the 4-hour party? The age ranges are mostly 10 to 14 year olds, but we have a 3 year old and two 6 year olds attending as well.
2) Can you relay the ways that people have let you know, or any ideas you might have, that the Reception after a Wedding was ADULTS ONLY? The only exception we are making is to our teenage ushers - all of whom are almost out of high school - and to my future stepson, Trey (10). He will come for 1/2 of the Reception, then go to the kids party.

I guess if your going through all of the trouble of setting up a "Kids only" reception (which I wish I had thought of and might steal) I would also go the extra step and send the children separate wedding invitations, letting them know that there will be a reception after for just them. I think its a wonderful way to make them feel special. It will also help the adults understand the "adult only" remark that you are putting on the bottom of your invitations to them.

You could do something arty... like decorating cupcakes. Just have a table set up with a cover on and a load of plain cupcakes. They put out bowls of things to put on it like icing, and sugar decorations. I'm assuming the children will be supervised?
Just write in the bottom of the invite that the reception is adult only. I'm sure people will understand as organising anything on a huge scale is expensive and stressful. You wouldn't want anything added to make it potentially worse!

Hotel party?
i'm am having a hotel party well i want one. but my sisters are trying 2 convine my mom to have a regular party with just 2 friends. come on i'm turning 13 it has to be speacil. how many friends should i invite and should i have a hotel party or a house party with 2 friends. and if i have a hotel party what do serve as food and does anyone know were i can find good party ideas

I used to work in a hotel. A hotel party can be fun. You can go swimming and order in. However, most hotels require you to be 18 to rent a room. If your mom is willing she could rent it for you but she would have to stay there with you. If she leaves and the hotel discovers you are without an adult they will kick you out which could be an embarrasing situation for you. Also, if you have a big party at a hotel and someone in another room complains that you are too loud the hotel can also kick you out. They will call the cops and have the cops escort you and your friends out. Yes,they can do that. Some people will say the hotel can't kick you out if you paid but THEY CAN. I know because I've had to call the cops before and have them kick people out. The hotel will warn you a couple times before they call the police but if you get a warning you should take it seriously. I worked at an extremely nice hotel. All the rooms had living rooms and bedrooms along with kitchen areas. We had two swimming pools, two pool tables, and an air hockey table. We had a lot of birthday parties on the weekends and the guests had a lot of fun BUT if you do decide to do it at a hotel just be sure to find out what their rules are regarding parties and then be respectful of the other people staying there so they don't complain and get you in trouble.

my aunt just emailed me and said that she is having a thanksgiving party. she didnt say what day so i emailed her back. well i really wanted to go to this other thanksgiving party on wednesday night. if my aunts party is also on wednesday, which party should i go to?
I dont want to hurt my aunts feelings for not going but i would be hurting my friends feeling by not going to the other party. i will let you know when my aunt has her party. pray that it isn't on the same day.

Ihave a child turning 1 and a 14 year old who graduated from middle school. We are going to our home state on vacation and thought it would be nice to have a party. We agreed to the 1st birthday party for sure but unsure how to handle a graduation party as well. We are only there one weekend and the same people would be invited to both. Would it be wrong or tacky to combine the two parties? I was going to simply send announcements for the 14 year old so maybe people would get a clue and congrat him at the 1 year olds party and maybe even bring a gift of somekind but I honestly don't think people would put the two together. We are having the party outside at a forest preserve. Any ideas help???

Just send the invites and state such... Tell them you wanted to celebrate both events but did not want to take their valuable time for 2 separate events - this way the people attending think you are being thoughtful as well.
Nothing extravagant, just simple invites. the main point here is the getting together of family and friends to celebrate events.
Have 2 smaller cakes - one for the B-day the other for the Grad.

Whatever you decide to do make sure that everyone will have a good time. Seems like you know what you're doing. 1. We have no political prisoners. The occupants of Abu Ghraib and Gitmo were legitimate prisoners captured on the field of battle or in their hideouts, and thus their presence in incarceration completely legal. No torture, either.
2. The Nazis *murdered* and tortured innocent civilians as policy, the US has accidently killed civilians in the execution of the war and occupation. Significant difference. I defy any sane person to name any innocent people *murdered* by the US as part of our policy.
3. The Nazis fabricated a border incident. Considering that the US intelligence agencies believed he had WMD, and confirmed the same beliefs from the UN and other EU intelligence agencies, how can any sane person claim that Bush "lied"? Regarding terrorism, it had been well documented that Saddam's intelligence services had a relationship with Al Qaeda since 1992, had given money to Palestinian terrorists, and had built training camps for terrorists in Iraq.
4. Valerie Plame was NOT a covert agent, after her status was accidentally released during the Clinton administration. Her more recent exposure was from a non-conservative non-Bush-supporting liberal State Department employee, Richard Armitage. And Plame's husband has been exposed for being the liar he is. Not sure about you bizarre comment about generals. Your assumption that only truthful generals are being fired is not based on any truth or fact or reality.
5. Just because public sentiment changes does not mean a president should dance to the whims of an uninformed public. This is a nonsense statement on your part.
6. Your display of ignorance of history shows you have no knowledge upon which to base any rational conclusion. Considering the extent to which the Bush administration has tried to preserve our maximum rights and freedoms while prosecuting this war, and considering the actions of Lincoln (suspension of habeas corpus, use of military to prevent Maryland legislature from convening, etc) and FDR (concentration camps for Americans of Japanese descent, etc) any student of historical fact would see your false accusations as merely shrill hysteria.

The Nazis put people in prisons because they were Jewish, and for no other reason. They systematically rounded them up to gas them in ovens. We are not doing this by any means. We are going after terrorists, not Muslims. Otherwise, we'd have rounded up the entire Middle East.
The Nazis killed 6,000,000 Jews. Less than one percent of that number have died in the entire war in Iraq. Over 50,000,000 died in WWII. This is over 1000 times the number who have died in Iraq.
Thousands of WMDs have been found in Iraq. Do some research before YOU start spreading lies.
The number of Generals fired remains a mystery because it is a non-story. The press would have a field day with this if it were true. You can't use something you don't know as a point. It doesn't nmake any sense.
Adolf Hitler has zero comparison to GW Bush. Just listen to the two of them talk. Hitler was a Communist for heaven's sake, bent on world domination because he followed Marx's plans to a T. Bush is very much a capitalist who hates Communism.
